We hope everyone is staying healthy and well! We are going to occasionally give some cleaning tips for all of our friends. We see all kinds of different situations in our industry, from homeowners who try do it yourself cleaning or just an inherited situation that you may come across. Wood floors are one of the trickiest cleaning situations for homeowners. Many products on the market are "safe" for hardwoods but may not be a smart option. Some of the products from the hardware stores contains oil, acrylic, or wax. These products will yellow, brown, or start to flake within time. Please avoid these at all cost, or it could cost you a lot of elbow grease or a costly removal process by a professional company. Another popular cleaning method is a steam mop. These are great for the right floors, but not hardwood. Steam actually dulls the finish and can harm the wood. Look for a cleaner that is just that , a cleaner only. If anyone needs information on what we recommend please feel free to ask. Hardwoods will last a long time and look great for many years with proper maintenance. I hope this has been helpful and we pray everyone has a great 2020!
